The programme aims to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to draft, review, implement and update legally compliant work-from-home and teleworking policies.
It examines the Cyprus legal framework and the interaction between teleworking policies, employment contracts, working-time requirements, health and safety obligations, employee monitoring, data protection, cybersecurity and cross-border working arrangements.

Module 1: The Legal Framework for Teleworking in Cyprus
- Application of the Cyprus Teleworking Law;
- Distinguishing teleworking, hybrid working and occasional work from home;
- Voluntary teleworking arrangements and exceptional circumstances;
- Information that must be provided to the employee;
- Equal treatment of teleworkers;
- The right to disconnect;
- Relationship between the employment contract, teleworking policy and internal procedures; and
- Principal areas of employer liability and legal risk.
Module 2: Advanced Drafting of Teleworking Policies
- Scope and application of the policy;
- Eligibility criteria and excluded positions;
- Employee request and employer approval procedures;
- Approved working location, days and hours;
- Attendance, availability, working time and performance expectations;
- Right to disconnect and out-of-hours communications;
- Equipment, technical support and work-related expenses;
- Use of personal devices and bring-your-own-device arrangements;
- Loss, damage and return of company equipment;
- Amendment, suspension and termination of teleworking arrangements; and
- Distinguishing contractual terms from policy provisions.
Module 3: Managing Legal and Operational Risks
- Employer health and safety obligations;
- Home-workstation assessments;
- Employee responsibilities for maintaining a safe working environment;
- Reporting accidents, injuries and health and safety concerns;
- Data protection and lawful employee monitoring;
- Necessity, proportionality and transparency in monitoring practices;
- Confidentiality and protection of client and company information;
- Cybersecurity and secure access to company systems;
- Unauthorised working from another country;
- Identifying tax, immigration, social insurance and employment-law risks; and
- Practical exercise identifying and correcting defective policy clauses.
Module 4: Implementation,Governance and Policy Auditing
- Teleworking request and approval forms;
- Home-workstation self-assessments;
- Employer health and safety assessments;
- Equipment registers and compliance declarations;
- Allocation of responsibilities between management, HR, legal, IT, the DPO and health and safety personnel;
- Consistent and non-discriminatory application of the policy;
- Training managers and employees;
- Managing breaches of the policy;
- Periodic auditing, review and amendment;
- Integrated case study; and
- Final participant assessment.
