ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ
This Seminar aims to provide participants the knowledge and understanding to be able to set up a fund in Cyprus from A to Z. The Cyprus Fund Industry and the basic legal characteristics of AIF funds are examined so that participants are able to comprehensively understand every step of the process. All set up stages are thoroughly analyzed, including the application for authorization and the drafting of legal documents.
ΣΚΟΠΟΣ ΣΕΜΙΝΑΡΙΟΥ
- To gain a general understanding of funds and their legal form and possible structures
- To be able to correctly assess client needs by suggesting the most suitable fund structure
- To understand the process of preparing and submitting an Application including the drafting of documents
- To get an insight of the post- authorisation, activation process
ΣΕ ΠΟΙΟΥΣ ΑΠΕΥΘΥΝΕΤΑΙ
The course is applicable to professionals employed within the Funds sector or those wishing to join the industry and who are particularly interested in the fund set-up process. These may include professionals from the fund sector such as fund managers and fund administrators or third party professionals involved or seeking to get involved in setting up funds such as lawyers, accountants and corporate service providers.

Training Style
The programme’s context and educational material will be illustrated and explained to participants in detail. Questions by participants will be answered throughout. Real time examples and document samples will be provided where available. In certain occasions, participants will be more interactively involved through an exchange of views and personal professional experiences.
CPD Recognition
This programme may be approved for up to 10 CPD units in Financial Regulation and Law. Eligibility criteria and CPD Units are verified directly by your association, regulator or other bodies which you hold membership.
Professionals requiring CPD units to meet the education requirements for CySEC licence renewal, and/or for maintaining other professional memberships/certifications which accept CPD in Financial Regulation, are advised to consider training subjects in categories that indicate CPD training in Financial Regulation.
The Cyprus Bar Association (CyBAR) has confirmed that this programme is accredited for 10 CPD units. Professionals requiring CPD units to meet the education requirements for CyBAR licence renewal, and/or for maintaining other professional memberships/certifications which accept CPD in Law, are advised to consider training subjects in categories that indicate CPD training in Law.

Athos Myrianthous
Mr. Athos Myrianthous is a senior Legal Advocate with expertise in Finance and Commercial Law. He holds an Honours degree in Law (LLB) from Queen Mary University London, a Masters Degree in International Commercial Law (LLM) from the University of Westminster and a Masters Degree in Finance (MSC .SH) from Cass Business School, City University. He is a member of the Cyprus Bar, the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and a holder of CYSEC’s Advanced Certificate in Financial Services Legal Framework. He held various positions in the Legal and Finance Sector and provided expert advice and technical assistance in Finance Law, Funds Law and International Commercial Law both on a local and International level. He served as Head of Compliance in Fortified Capital Limited, an Alternative Fund Management Company (AIFM) regulated by CYSEC. Currently he is the Manager in BDO Fund Services, Cyprus specializing in Fund Set Up, Administration and Compliance.

Άθως Μυριάνθους - Deputy Head of the Financial Services Registration Department (FSRD) of MAP S. Platis.
Athos is a Senior Financial Services Professional with hands on consulting experience in the areas of AIF & UCITs Funds, CIFs, PIs, EMIs and other regulated entities in the finance sector. He has extensive experience in Set up and Licencing, Compliance & AML, Fund Administration, Transfer Agent and other financial regulation matters. He holds an Honours degree in Law (LLB) from Queen Mary University London, a Master’s Degree in International Commercial Law (LLM) from Westminster University and a Master’s Degree in Finance (MsC ship. & finance ) from Cass Business School, City University. He is a holder of the Cyprus Bar, member of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA), holder of CYSEC’s Advanced Certificate in Financial Services Legal Framework and CYSEC AML Certification. He is also member in a number of technical committees and working groups including the CIFA AML Technical committee, for the past few years. He held various positions in the Legal and Finance Sector and for many years provided expert advice and technical assistance in Finance Law and Funds Law, to entities both on a local and international level. He is currently Deputy Head of the Financial Services Registration Department (FSRD) of MAP S. Platis.
