Have you ever thought that bad things always happen to you, that you are
somehow causing or attracting them or that these bad things will last
forever? If so, you are not alone.
Many people explain
experiences they have, especially the negative ones, through a
pessimistic lens, and feel helpless in doing anything to change this.
And yet, such thinking can have negative impact on our life outcomes and
our well-being. Luckily, positive psychology indicates that optimism is
not something that is hard wired into our DNA, but rather it is a way
of thinking that can be learned through heightened awareness and
conscious practice. Such “learned optimism” is NOT about looking at the
world through pink tinted glasses or focusing only on the good things in
our lives. Rather it is about acknowledging adversity and struggles and
explaining them in ways that support well-being and promote
self-change.

In this short webinar we will look at what optimism and pessimism are,
and consider a new way of thinking about the events of our lives that
will help build optimistic thinking and in so doing, develop and
safeguard our well-being, our effectiveness and our quality of life.
