This is mandatory training for any low- or medium-risk environment that may affect third parties or employed personnel. First aiders will cover a range of topics relating to potential first aid emergency situations, as specified by the Cyprus Department of Labour Inspection.

ΣΚΟΠΟΣ ΣΕΜΙΝΑΡΙΟΥ

The training and certification of trainees in basic First Aid knowledge, so that they comply with the legislation “Safety and Health at Work Law of 2009 (K.D.P. 198/2009).”

Program Content

• Understanding the applicable First Aid legislation

• Understanding the role of the first aider, the use of first aid equipment, and the basic principles of personal hygiene and protection during the provision of first aid in workplaces

• When to call the emergency services

• CPR: basic knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation

• Choking – adults, children, and infants

• Recovery position

• When an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) should be used

• Ongoing assessment and care

• Heart attack

• Unconscious casualties

• Seizures

• Stroke

• Diabetic emergency

• Heat stroke

• Bleeding

• Minor injuries and wounds

• Nosebleed

• Eye injury

• Other types of injuries

• Burns

• Chemical injuries: skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion

• Description and recording of the incident

Assessment and Certification

All trainees, following assessment and successful completion of the seminar, will receive the certificate First Aid at Work – Emergency Incidents, in accordance with the applicable legislation.

The training program includes:

• Training material for each participant

• Training equipment

• A program approved by the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus, EMP Medic First Aid, and the Cyprus Labour Inspection Office

• Certification validity: 3 years

• Certificate and pocket card

• Lunch and coffee breaks
