The Nautical Institute (Cyprus Branch) was established in 1993 after it was recognised that the Cyprus Ship management industry supported a significant number of members living and working on the island.

In March 1993 Captain Peter Bond sent out letters to all known members on the Island suggesting the formation of a local Branch. As such the first formal meeting was held in his house in May 1993 and the Founding Fathers of the Branch, who attended that meeting are listed. The records of that meeting are attached. The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held in May 94 .

The aim of the Branch is to promote a variety of activities and increase the membership of The Nautical Institute on the island of Cyprus.

The Branch is run and managed by a small group of dedicated Institute member volunteers who form the local Committee. Committee members meet approximately once every 2 months in order to set the branch programme and keep the Branch running smoothly.

The AGM is held each year, normally in March. Branch meetings are normally held at CYMEPA House in Limassol as the Branch has had a long standing co-operation with CYMEPA.
